Conversation between Rogelio López Cuenca and Teresa Millet

ConversationsIVAM Centre Julio González

Conversation between the artist, Rogelio López Cuenca, and the curator of the exhibition and curator at the IVAM, Teresa Millet, on the occasion of the exhibition “RADICAL GEOGRAPHICS Rogelio López Cuenca”.

Rogelio López Cuenca, Nerja 1959, focuses his artistic practice on the analysis of mass media, the construction of identities and cultural criticism. He develops this work by means of publications, courses, exhibitions, interventions in public urban spaces, on TV or on the Internet (, resorting to his own processes not only of visual arts but also of literature and social sciences.

In April, May and June of 2015 he has coordinated several sessions of the No/w/here Valencia workshop, which he organised with the collaboration of the School of Fine Arts of the Universitat Politècnica de Valencia.

The city is a collection of trophies, a permanent public exhibition of the booty that was accumulated by the consecutive victors throughout history. But this deposit of legitimation documents is also a store of filed cases, forced to close, unresolved, denied: an archive of omission, the dismissed pages of the memory of those who were ignored, the deleted verses of the songs of the forgotten.
