The Valencian Institute of Modern Art (IVAM) has committed to making its website ivam.es accessible in accordance with Royal Decree 1112/2018, of September 7, on the accessibility of public sector websites and mobile applications.

Virtually all critical and automated issues on the platform have been resolved; however, the following aspects subject to continuous review may occasionally persist:

  • Multimedia and video: Errors related to videos, subtitles, audio descriptions, and their access for all users [requirements 9.1.2.2, 9.1.2.3, and 9.1.2.5 of UNE-EN 301549:2022].

  • Structure and relationships: On some pages, information, structure, and relationships are not determined by software or lack a text alternative [requirement 9.1.3.1 of UNE-EN 301549:2022].

  • Non-text content: Some images are unlabeled or have a generic text alternative [requirement 9.1.1.1 of UNE-EN 301549:2022].

  • Minimum contrast: On some pages, the contrast ratio for text might not be at least 4.5:1 [requirement 9.1.4.3 of UNE-EN 301549:2022].

  • Interactive components: On some pages, user interface components such as form elements, links, and script-generated components do not follow the structure recommended by accessibility guidelines [requirement 9.4.1.2 of UNE-EN 301549:2022].

  • Semantic tagging: Errors exist in the use of semantic tagging that reflects information and content relationships [requirements 9.1.3.1 and 9.4.1.2 of UNE-EN 301549:2022].

  • Forms: Forms exist where labels or instructions are not properly provided [requirement 9.3.3.2 of UNE-EN 301549:2022].

  • Manual editing: Occasional editing flaws may exist on some web pages.

  • Downloadable PDF documents exist with poorly labeled images [requirement 1.1.1 of UNE-EN 301549:2022].

  • Downloadable PDF documents exist that lack a correct markup language [requirement 4.1.1 of UNE-EN 301549:2022].

  • Downloadable PDF documents contain poorly labeled links [requirements 1.3.1, 2.4.4, 3.1.3, and 4.1.2 of UNE-EN 301549:2022].

Enforcement Procedure

Through this procedure, you can initiate a claim to learn about and oppose the reasons for the dismissal of an accessible information request or complaint, urge the adoption of appropriate measures if you disagree with the decision made, or state the reasons why you consider that the response does not meet the required standards.

Improvement Content and Measures Taken

IVAM carries out periodic technical reviews of both development templates and published content to ensure compliance with the accessibility requirements of the UNE-EN 301549 standard. Measures adopted in the website architecture include:

  • Inclusion of alternative texts (alt) in dynamic images through fallback systems based on entry titles.

  • Rigorous semantic structuring of the heading hierarchy (h1-h3).

  • Explicit association of labels (<label>) in forms and deployment of optimized classes for screen readers (.screen-reader-text).

  • Use of semantic landmark roles (<nav>, role=”search”) and differentiated aria-label attributes for clear navigation in menus and interactive components.

  • Optimization of the color palette to guarantee required contrast ratios (minimum 4.5:1).
