name London you may think of the Thames, or Parliament you don’t immediately think of a back garden in East London. I like this little play with the text. The same with the title when people think of my work a title like Your Views could conjure up a documentary film with people talking, rather than landscapes, cityscapes and villages. Everyone that participates in the film is called a filmmaker, which they are for this film, I hope to have the largest collaborative film ever made!! Me: Now talking of playing with words you titled this interview Me: Me: Me: which sound very solipsistic. But I imagine it is not to be taken at face value. Me: All art comes from some biographical point whether you are painting abstractly, doing sound pieces, performance, etc. As an artist I shape things from experiences. For instance my interest from working with people/strangers etc, came from a very young age when I would look out my grandmother’s window and watch the same people walk past every day. I gave the people names and imagined lives for them. My family used to say I did the ‘twitch’, which was when I was alone I would walk up and down the room creating these stories in my head, grasping my hands together (which is where the word twitch came from). Only when I was older and as an artist did I realize it may be best to ask people their stories rather than invent them for them. So the ‘me’ in the work is there even though it’s not about me personally in a lot of the work. 20
