L’extraordinari! is a creative process that breaks with the conventional idea of extracurricular activities offered by museums, and continues IVAM’s commitment to support work–life balance for families.
This initiative, which runs for a whole school year, launches its sixth edition by exploring new possibilities for contemporary creation and research in the museum, from childhood and for children, in conjunction with the social and participatory art collective ideadestroyingmuros*.
With this goal in mind, a core resident group will be formed at the museum throughout the school year. Together, every Thursday, they will set in motion actions and mechanisms to learn, to experience, to propose and, ultimately, to generate new ways of doing and living in museums through the arts.
* ideadestroyingmuros is a transcultural group rooted in community-based artistic creation and situated processes of learning. Founded in Venice in 2005, its name refers to the musical composition by Luigi Nono from 1970 called “voci destroying muros.” The group has been active in Valencia for more than fifteen years while also maintaining strong ties with Italy—particularly Verona and Palermo—and with Senegal, between Dakar and Thiafoura. Their work is grounded in conceptual and process-based practices characteristic of community, feminist and post-exotic art.
Process-based project with a closed group requiring prior enrolment.
