The conversation with the curators will unpack the key research that led to the realization of the exhibition Els exilis de Renau. This show aims to reconstruct the various historical and creative contexts that the poster artist, photomontage artist, muralist, and exiled writer Josep Renau had to navigate throughout his fascinating life journey.
Joan Ramon Escrivà and Josep Salvador, IVAM curators, will focus particularly on analyzing the contexts of Renau’s mural work in Mexico and communist Berlin, as well as the issues surrounding the so-called American Way of Life, one of the main areas of reflection in the Valencian artist’s work during the cultural Cold War.
