As part of the exhibition “Mechanical and Technical Imaginaries in the IVAM Collection,” the artist Gary Hill gave a conference on September 23, 2021, in which he shared with the audience his reflections and research on the image and the video medium.
“For quite some time I have considered the video medium as a kind of past event that has been subsumed by spectacle, which incorporates ever-increasing resolution, massively configurable screens, and generally, piercing sound.
