Dalí y El Quijote

In addition to his enormous popularity, Salvador Dalí has been a focus of attention in the realm of the arts, literature and films. But, because of its complexity and the many queries that it raises, his work has needed – and still needs – serious analyses to discover specific new aspects of his output. This Catalan artist is known for his development of the paranoiac-critical method which he invented, while in his personal iconography he began to reflect on the profound influence of classical art (Velázquez, the Italian Renaissance). Dalí was thus a lover of order and a member of the avant-garde, modern and rebellious. His position in the Surrealist movement was personal and provocative. He succeeded in embodying a strange paradox: painting in a realist manner in accordance with irrational thinking and unknown aspects of the imagination. His versatility comes from this rational and irrational basis. His paintings, drawings and engravings left a profound mark on twentieth-century art.
