Educational workshop “Robert Morris. Drawing as thinking”
The workshop departs from the concept that Morris has of the drawing as ‘ document of the thought ‘, which allows to realize across his works a tour for the history of the art. This exercise ends in a series of works where we can observe his vision of the artists, who call him the attention. Among them, Francisco of Goya, and concretely the series of engravings ” The disasters of the war “, that he uses as source of inspiration.
From here, the artist generates a new vision of the work introducing contemporary elements and creating a collage drawn with graphite that makes the images join in just one, allowing several readings and scenes, as well as different perspectives which gives as a result, a complex and reflexive vision of the world of the art.
The didactic activity begins with a projection of video to know the keys that Morris uses to realize his works. Later, the participants, on Morris’s drawing place impressions of different parts of Goya´s engravings, and compose a series of images similar to those that the artist used.
The figures, which can be cut away and manipulated, are printed in adhesive paper, and can stick creating a new composition, with different scenes, approaching this way to the different visions of the creative universe of Robert Morris.
