Rebrot

A joint initiative between IVAM and the University of Valencia

ExhibitionTerritory

Rebrot is an exhibition project that brings together eleven works from the IVAM collection that were damaged in the 2024 flood that inundated the warehouse in Riba-roja de Túria. After a restoration process, the pieces—eight sculptures and three paintings—are being presented to the public again, acquiring a renewed symbolic dimension linked to the concepts of repair, resilience, and collective reconstruction.

The exhibition constitutes the first phase of a long-term initiative between the IVAM and the University of Valencia aimed at bringing contemporary art closer to the university community and, especially, to young people. The project integrates the works into everyday spaces—classrooms, hallways, and common areas—transforming them into places of interaction, learning, and reflection.

A total of 128 works from the IVAM collection were damaged in the 2024 flood. The museum’s restoration team established a phased action plan, successfully restoring 70 pieces throughout 2025. Rebrot presents a selection of these restored works, highlighting the process of recovering artistic heritage.

The project is part of an institutional collaboration that views culture as a tool for social transformation. In the face of destruction, Rebrot proposes a collective reflection on material fragility and the capacity for reconstruction through cooperation, eco-dependence, and shared action.
