Whistler-Music

Exhibition

The exhibition organised by the IVAM is the first in the world to be devoted to comparing the work of James McNeill Whistler (1834–1903) and Zoran Music (1909), two fundamental artists of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries respectively. The exhibition offers a dialogue between these two artists who, although belonging to different periods, have a common reference in the influence exercised on their work by the city of Venice, one of the most beautiful in the world, where art and water mingle intimately in everyday life. The exhibition consists of over two hundred works, concentrating basically on small-format works on paper (etchings, drawings, watercolours and pastels) by both artists.
