Paisajes desde el tren first saw the light when high-speed trains were a novelty in Spain and the magazine has gained popularity and become a referent at an incredible rhythm, and not only in the publishing market, as a value added product, but today Paisajes is a trend-setter due to its content, design and quality, thanks to which it is now possibly the best magazine in the sector, to judge from the numerous awards it has been granted. Sixteen authors and twenty photographs sum up the essence of the train, the landscape and the charm of the journey. The exhibition is an invitation to make a photographic safari by train, where speed and modernity go hand in hand without forgetting the past and always with an eye on the future, where great railway engineering works become the protagonists. We see modest stations and others that seem to be made out of brushstrokes; we get a close look at building materials like ballast and the geometric interplay of the tracks and we enter the dream world of comics where trains circulate along the structures of buildings. In the train the artists invite us to look out the window and we see reflections on the glass and landscapes during the different seasons of the year, as well as the typical symbols of the Spanish landscape such as electricity-producing windmills and the outline of the wild bullfighting bull. And lastly the evocation of the journey: a cup of coffee, the wait, the farewell, the traveller, his luggage, and, last but not least, the magazine that accompanies the traveller. All the artists who take part in this exhibition participated in the last edition of entreFotos XII in 2010, a very prestigious trade fair whose aim is to promote and divulge artistic photographic art. It is worth pointing out that a key feature of its identity is that entreFotos is as much concerned with conserving traditional photographic techniques and processes as in promoting the most state-of-the-art technological tools. All this makes it a powerful channel of information that contributes to the diffusion of the Spanish photographic art scene and the promotion of young artists.
