Inhabiting the Mediterranean
Gallery 1. IVAM. 2018
«Inhabiting the Mediterranean » joins humanity around a space at the same time mythical, historical, social and geographical : the beloved Mediterranean Sea. With archeological and contemporary works, with sculptures, photographies, drawings and videos, IVAM sets a surprising sight on what has linked Mediterranean people for millennium: Light, water, wind, colour, architecture…
There was an artist among the fifty one IVAM has gathered, the Sardinian woman Maria Lai, who performed for three days with the inhabitants of her village (« Tying Oneself to the Mountain », 1981). They tyed all their houses to the big crag above the village with a blue ribbon in a symbol of fraternity.
