Dani Karavan

Exhibition

The Israeli artist Dani Karavan (Tel Aviv 1930) has been developing his personal concept of environment since the sixties. His works, sculptures and interventions, mainly constructed in open spaces, are highly elaborate and full of nuances. They can be seen in various countries and sum up his permanent commitment to the history and culture characteristic of each particular place. Outstanding examples are his projects in connection with Florence Cathedral and Cologne Cathedral and his tributes to Walter Benjamin in Düsseldorf and Port Bou. Karavan has explored the power of landscape as a focus for communicating experience and transmitting energy. His forms construct a dialogue between matter and imagination, between elements of nature and human planning. This exhibition concentrates on the principal focuses of Karavan’s activity and includes a group of works especially conceived for the sculpture gallery where his projects will be shown.
