Zineb Sedira
Gallery 7. IVAM. 2019
It is the splintered ships sinking in methacrylate by Zineb Sedira what comes to my mind these days. IVAM closed this exhibition a few months ago. French-born Algerian artist showed a series of poetic works with which she tried to rebuild her personal story and that of her family. This is an artistic self-exploration exercise which also narrates part of the contemporary history of Europe: splintered shipwrecks sinking in methacrylate; desert sand threatening to cover us at a slow but steady pace; ruined buildings from a not-too-distant colonial past and a family story as the only thread for each of our stories to hang from.
