“Masks make us freer because they protect us from being judged by others.” This statement, along with the depth of Gillian Wearing’s work, is a powerful reason to revisit her exhibition at IVAM. I have come back to this thought many times since then and, over the years, I have taken on other messages that the artist launched, such as the confirmation of the passage of time and the multiple identities that exist in all of us. In that exhibition “Your views”, a website for citizens to upload views from their windows, was in progress. Art gives us clues to the future so often!
