Abierto València
LaVAC – Association of Contemporary Art Galleries of the Community of Valencia organizes for the seventh year a new edition of Abierto València, the international event that celebrates the joint inauguration of the artistic season of the spaces that are part of the association. The event will gather: The Blink Project, espaivisor, Rosa Santos, Luis Adelantado, Espai Tactel, Aural, Shiras Galería, Set Espai d’Art, Galería Thema, Galería La Mercería, Galería Cuatro, Benlliure, Alba Cabrera, Plastic Murs, Galería Vangar and Galería Punto.
During the weekend of September 19 to 22, Valencian galleries open their doors to publicize the role of the gallery owners as a promoter of cultural heritage, providing the public with free access spaces where art trends are informed an new languages and new creators are promoted.
On friday of September 20, the press conference will take place at IVAM, where the “Best Exhibitor Award” would be announced, granted by the Conselleria d’Educació, Investigació Cultura i Esport, the “Best Featured Artist Award”, granted by the City hall of València, and the “Acquisition Awards.”
That same afternoon the galleries will open until 10pm and they will invite visitors to a Turia beer, so that they can enjoy each of the proposals free of charge. In the evening there will be a grand opening party of Abierto València taking place at the IVAM.(guest access)
The jury summoned for this edition is formed by: Tania Pardo, Deputy Director of CA2MCentro de Arte Dos de Mayo; José Luis Pérez Pont, the Director of the CCCC – Center del Carme Cultura Contemporània; Javier Del Campo, Art Director of the CAB, (Burgos); and Julia Ramón, Deputy Director General of Cultural Activities and Programs of the IVAM – Valencian Institute of Modern Art.
To make known the 16 galleries participating in Abierto València, Arco Gallery Walk has been created, in collaboration with the Arco Foundation, which proposes 4 routes: El Carmen, Velluters, El Ensanche and Ruzafa. The tours, which will take place on Friday 20 and Saturday 21 of September, and they will have a guide that accompanies each of the groups to discover the different artistic proposals. Registration is online and free. The VII edition of Abierto València adds new collaborations with entities such as: Kells Collection, awarded in the last edition of ARCO with the A Collection Prizes; El Secreto de la Filantropía Foundation; Juan José Castellano Comenge Foundation and the Consell Valencia of Culture.
For its part, MAKMA, a magazine of Visual Arts and Contemporary Culture, continues with its unconditional support in matters of communication and difussion of Abierto València, but also doubles its collaborative effort with an economic endowment destined to a Prize for the acquisition of the work. In this edition, the commitment with Cerveza Turia is strengthened, with whom it reinforces its collaboration through several actions that will take place within the context of Abierto València.
Abierto València, receives once again the support of Conselleria d’Educació, Investigació, Cultura i Esport de la Generalitat Valenciana, the City Hall of Valéncia, The Hortensia Herrero Foundation, DKV, Gandía Blasco Group, IVAM and the Arco Foundation. The same way, companies such as Ética and The_HUB continue to bet to support the values of the gallery owners and to establish connections between the world of art and companies.
