5 We hope all of you will accompany us José Miguel G. Cortés Director of the IVAM N O We have decided to start this first journey with a selection of artists and works in which the common feature is, perhaps, their desire not to remain unmoving or unmoved. Men and women, from Valencia, from Spain or other countries, artists who use photography, painting, video or sculpture, some young, some dead, of one colour or another, but all of them breaking down barriers, taking risks, crossing boundaries, asking questions. This exhibition, In Transit, with about sixty works from the IVAM Collection, previews ideas and shows us paths along which the IVAM’s new programme starting in 2015 will proceed. This is only the beginning, a small sample, a symbolic cartography, but one that truly represents the course we wish to take.
